Your Positive Money Mindset Checklist

Strengthening your money mindset will help you build financial security and increase your sense of self-worth. If you’re getting started with improving your positive money mindset, check these to-dos off your list:

  • learn something new about money each week (e.g. read an article or attend a free financial literacy class online);

  • write three financial goals on paper and display the paper in a place you can see every day (e.g. on your desk or on a post-it note attached to your bathroom mirror);

  • be present at work, even if you’re working from home, so that you can deliver your best performance at all times;

  • meet regularly with self-made millionaires and ask them about the factors that were key to their success;

  • join a financially minded community (check ours out here on Facebook);

  • genuinely believe you can build financial security;

  • keep and maintain a meticulous budget so that you have total control over your day-to-day finances;

  • when you receive money, set some aside for your future (a best practice is 10 to 20 per cent), and reward yourself with something that you can afford;

  • express gratitude whenever you receive money; even if it’s just your normal paycheque; and

  • get a money mentor who can hold you financially accountable, and help you set goals for your money.

Becoming empowered with your finances takes time. But, you’ll see the positive impact of your efforts to take control of your money almost immediately.
